A graphic-products (paper and card) assignment, suitable for GCSE + Plastic straws (which are single-use items) become a large problem for the environment after they are thrown away. The USA alone uses over 390 million plastic straws each day (Source: New York Times), and most of those end up either in landfills or polluting the environment. Plastic straws create a huge problem when they are improperly disposed. When a plastic straw enters the environment, it can get carried by the wind and rain into bodies of water (like rivers), and eventually enter the ocean. Wheat straws would be a popular alternative to plastic straws. Length:200mm or customized Diameter:3-5mm Design packaging which can hold 100 straws. Each package should must clearly present • the logo and name of the brand, Hay-stix in a suitable style or font • The words “biodegradable” “100% organic” “100X Wheat straws” on the front cover • The logo on the front and sides of the box • A pictogram on the rear of the box showing the four steps involved in manufacturing the straws. • A barcode on the rear of the box, and a country of origin label, and a short recipe for a mocktail. • The packaging must have a suitable window to display the product inside.

A classroom worksheet to learn about Light Dependent Resistors and servos. This is a great way to demnstrate voltage dividers. A servo is different from a motor in important ways. It does nor continuously rotate when current is applied. Instead you can set the position of the rotor to any direction. This makes servos important in robotics, model aeroplanes and cars, for example. Arduino is a great option for teaching kids about programming, robotics, real-world computing and the like. Arduino boards are cost-effective which makes them ideal for use in schools. A new free resource for introducing programming, real-world computing nad robotics with Arduino UNO. Arduino is a great option for teaching kids about programming, robotics, real-world computing and the like. Arduino boards are cost-effective which makes them ideal for use in schools. This workbook is designed with classroom teaching in mind, with printable worksheets that pupils can use to build projects in the classroom lab or workshop, as part of a program of teaching on electronics and coding. This project consists of three activities of increasing complexity, and they have been designed with flexibility in mind, so that they can support various resource levels found in schools. You can focus on the model building and just use the code supplied. Pupils can work in small groups on this project, soldering LEDs together, making the traffic light etc. The traffic light can be made according to whatever resources available, there are two examples shown, one with 3mm MDF, dowel and a base, and the other done with the laser-cutter. Or just make the projects as breadboard only, and focus on the coding. I’ve found when working with these projects, that a bit of both works best, as it allows pupils to find their own leve, and that approach really helps with resource management, as you might not have enough quipment for one each! The code for each project is included in the pack, or just copy and paste it from these slides. Once each project has been built, pupils can try out different things, like changing LED timings via delay, for example.

This is a work book designed to accompany a practical project for year 7 or perhaps 8. It invloves cuting out fish shapes with a coping saw, drilling a 4mm hole (for the eye!) and inserting a piece of steel rod for magnetism. I am using 2 sheets glued together to reduce breakage. There is also an interlocking box which could be cut out of ply or MDF. And a rod with a magnet.

One sheet per student. Three versions of the worksheet are available two with guidelines and shading marks, for more scaffolding. Students apply different levels of shade and tone to a toy train.
